6-cylinder petrol engine M52TU has a head of cylinders and the block of cylinders from an aluminium alloy. In 4-cylinder turbodiesel М47 two camshafts with the top arrangement have a chain drive and influence valves through roller коромысло. The second chain actuates the fuel pump of a high pressure. A drive of valves – roller. The diesel engine has a turbo-supercharging with changeable geometry of the turbine (VTG) and cooling наддуваемого air. 6-cylinder turbodiesel М57 is characterised by exclusively high twisting moment thanks to the general pressure head highway (common rail) a high pressure on which fuel to atomizers moves. Greasing of engines is carried out by the oil pump which at 6-cylinder engines (320i, 323i, 328i) settles down in a forward part of the pallet crankcase and resulted in rotation by a chain from a cranked shaft. At models 316i, 318i the oil pump is located in a cover of a box of the distributive mechanism on the end of a cranked shaft and connected to it through шлицевое connection. Sucked in oil arrives through apertures and on pipelines to bearings of cranked and distributive shaft, and also to working surfaces of cylinders.
